With midterm elections only a month away, our borders wide open to terrorists, and many of our liberties in jeopardy, it is vital for the church to be travailing in prayer like never before. “The prayer of a righteous man is powerful and effective.” (James 5:16). One way to engage in disciplined prayer this month is with a prayer atlas, made available through Spire Resources.

Having gotten my copy, I wanted to spotlight it as a great resource to cover our country, our churches, and our fellow Christians in prayer. The booklet provides a daily prayer plan, as well as scripture and inspiring quotes from church leaders and forefathers. The goal is to spend time for a few minutes every day, praying for that day’s requests. There are only two requests per day.

“By the end of the 31 days, participants in Pray31 will have prayed across America— interceding for every state, every territory, our nation’s capital, and much more. It’s a spiritually enriching experience,” Spire says on their web site.

Whether you pray with this particular resource or not, please feel free to share in the comments how you sense the Lord leading you to pray, and any specific words He shares with you. May we “encourage one another daily, as long as it is still called ‘Today’” (Hebrews 3:13).
