The Day with No End: a redemptive look at September 11th
September 30, 2026In June of 1967, Israel found itself surrounded and outnumbered by a coalition of its Arab neighbors. Not only did they heavily exceed the Israelis in military personnel, but the Arabs had three times as many tanks and three times as many aircraft.
In a stunning victory, the Israeli underdogs defeated their aggressors in six days, wiping out their air force and destroying tanks and artillery. Casualties for the Arabs totaled over 18,000, while Israel lost less than 700. (source: Britannica)
The outcome of the Six Day War was as monumental a victory as those recorded in the Old Testament.
I’ve been reflecting on the sovereignty of God. In scripture, the Lord reveals His desire to partner with man to display His works in the earth. This is clear from the calling of Abram all the way to the deputizing of the disciples to do the works that Jesus did. In fact, when the sovereignty of God is spoken of in scripture, it is sometimes spoken of as a last resort. For example,
“[God] saw that there was no one, he was appalled that there was no one to intervene; so his own arm achieved salvation for him, and his own righteousness sustained him” (Isaiah 59:16).
“I searched for a man among them to repair the wall and stand in the gap before Me on behalf of the land, so that I should not destroy it. But I found no one” (Ezekiel 22:30)
Decades-old prophecy coming to pass
The average American is oblivious concerning world events. The overwhelming majority I talk with offer blank stares when asked about immigration statistics in Europe. Rape gangs and rioting, acid attacks and the beheading of European citizens are lost on them. Shariah is not a term they’ve heard, even while its brutality seeks a legal foothold here in the States.
The murder of patriots in the last year, from Charlie Kirk to a Brown University student, along with the dubious handling of the investigations by authorities, are already old news. The uptick in transgender mass shooters in the United States and Canada is a phenomenon the media ignores.
Even believers are unaware that China is colonizing Africa, that democratic South Korea is now persecuting Christians, and that Nigeria has been undergoing a genocide.
Christians in the U.S. cannot be bothered to turn out at the polls, unless perhaps it’s a presidential year. Of those who do show up, many are partnering with an agenda that is openly hostile to life and liberty and national sovereignty.
Life will go on as usual in the minds of Americans. “Tomorrow will be like today, only more so” (Isaiah 56:12, NASB).
While The Lord instructs His people to intercede for their cities (Jeremiah 29:7), to pray that His will be done in the same way it is in Heaven (Matthew 6:10), and to fast until the Bridegroom returns (Luke 5:35), are the powers that are coming upon humanity too great for the intercessor to tackle?
In 1988, a man by the name of Paul Cain gave a prophetic word. He said that the Berlin Wall would fall, but that the remnants of Marxism in Europe would partner with Islam and spread. Nearly 40 years later, we are witnesses to its accuracy.
The Six Day War is a reminder that the Lord acts on behalf of His people and also His plans in the earth. As we celebrated America’s 250th anniversary, we were reminded of God’s miraculous intervention in sparing the life of a young George Washington when all of his fellow officers were killed. Likewise, our current president was spared from an assassin’s bullet by divine plan.
Will the Lord act sovereignly to combat the cumulative effects of Humanism in the West as it gives rise to a new Ottoman Empire? Will He restrain the tide of tyranny across the globe?
We hope for this. If He does, I believe it will nevertheless come at great cost to our comfort and convenience.
