Misinformation that’s been presented as “science” and incorporated into education curriculum for decades is being challenged and debunked by other scientists and historians, both Christian and secular. However, there is some equally sensationalized material circulating via the world wide web that seems to be enticing those who’ve just been delivered out of the camp of mainstream falsification. Some of these fantastical “theories” are deliberately being propagated to discredit and to distract the church, I believe. Likewise, distrust of the medical system and governmental agencies has led an increasing number to embrace natural health and alternative medicine. In the church community, I’m observing a polarization between these two camps and a line drawn that in essence asks people to choose a side. This is a mistake.
I'd like to share a personal story of how the testimonies out of the Shantung Revival convicted me that I'm too easily distracted and spiritually lazy. I am the heiress to a fortune described at the beginning, preoccupied with a mindless toy. Under conviction of this I decided to get away and seek the Lord. Leaving the responsibilities of work, chores, and family, I booked a room out of town (the Lord sent help so that all three of these obligations were well cared for). Departing in the morning, I spent time in the woods and by water, reading my Bible and just quiet.
Don't let them neuter you. Many generations of men gave everything they had so you could walk about in civic freedom. Christ gave the splendor of Heaven and then laid down his life to a cruel death so you could partake of spiritual freedom and the liberty out of which came the civic. No more complacency. It's our time to give it all we have.
