Four Blood Moons and The Day of the Lord

Pray at all times in the Spirit
April 17, 2014

Tonight marks a  lunar eclipse in which the moon will appear red.  In my last blog we took a snapshot glimpse at the significance of the first of the four blood moons commencing tonight, the previous times this celestial event has happened in history and its connection to Israel, and how the lunar and Jewish calendars line up precisely in 2014 and 2015. The moon “turning to blood” is mentioned throughout scripture in connection with the Day of the Lord. I wanted to take this opportunity to highlight some teaching related to all of this that has blessed me tremendously and provided valuable insights for the Christian living in the last days.

Vaughn Martin’s Day of the Lord: The Book of Revelation Revealed is an enlightening and incredible read not only about these momentous times, but also a connecting of the dots to bring together Biblical history and prophecy up until now. It is highly recommended for anyone interested in current events and prophecy, but also for those who would simply like to go deeper in their faith. The Day of the Lord instructs believers how to be victorious in what lies ahead  and challenges Christians against mediocrity.

The Day of the Lord addresses the following questions:

  • The word “rapture” never appears in the Bible. What does the term mean, and is there a rapture?
  • Will Christians be removed from the earth before the Tribulation?
  • What is the Antichrist and from where will he emerge?
  • There are many views of Biblical prophecy, including preterist, historicist, symbolic, and futurist. Which view is correct?
  • What is the Whore of Babylon? What is the Beast?

But this is not just teaching on end time events. There is key commentary that offers insight into what governs your community and your region, and even how your local church factors into what is happening in the heavenly realm. For example, did you know that the rulers of the second heaven are often called stars in the Bible, including godly angels, evil beings, and even the saints? (see Isaiah 14:12, Obadaiah 1:4, Daniel 8:10, Daniel 12:3, Revelation 1:20).  Did you also know that different churches are connected with different heavenly messengers (Rev. 1:20)?

Here is a striking insight from The Day of the Lord: “When a church rises up in purity and in power, the angel of that church is able to stand in authority in the second heaven [for further explanation on this concept, see this post on spiritual warfare]. When a church falls into apostasy, its angels lose its place of authority in the second heaven and a demonic ruler takes its place.”

The Day of the Lord had the effect of enlightening me profoundly, encouraging my faith, and also bringing into focus not only what is happening right now in our times, but crystallizing major world events to show how the church has arrived at its current state.

This book explains in a fresh and inspiring way the prophetic scriptures that speak of this Day. As you read this book, you will begin to understand the biblical prophecies that predict the rise of the victorious church and the final harvest of the earth. Best of all, you will gain a new understanding of the severe judgments of God and a deeper appreciation of His grace.day
